HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010!!!

I pray you and your family member had a blessed, safe and Happy New Year.

I spent the New Year in New York City with Bryan, and this was his first visit to New York. I got the chance to see my family and a few friends, but unfortunately the trip started with me getting sick. Although sick I was a soldier during our visit, I partied into the New Year, had dinner at Aunt Pat’s and took Bryan on a car tour of the City.

Bryan’s tour of New York included leaving Co-op City in the Bronx and taking in the following sites: Hunt’s Point; the South Bronx; across 125th street; across 116th street (to find Make My Cake – a black owned bakery which makes the best cakes); down Central Park West; across Central Park South; down 5th Avenue (I had to show him the Plaza Hotel, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center and the tree, and all the wonderful Christmas decorations); across 42nd Street to Times Square; down 8th Avenue; across 34th Street (to see Madison Square Garden, Macy’s and the Empire State Building); onto the FDR Drive and across the Brooklyn Bridge (Bryan had to go to Brooklyn, although we only went in about two miles in before turning around); back into Manhattan to 72nd Street to Dallas BBQ for beef ribs and drinks; up Third Avenue and back home to Co-op. It was about 20 degrees in NYC so we weren’t able to walk around, but I promised we’d go back again when the weather was much nicer.

2009 had been a trying year for everyone with the economy in a bad state, many people losing their jobs, taking pay cuts and not receiving any pay raises. Well it’s time for a change and I am claiming 2010 as the year of “New Beginnings and Great Starts.”

These are some photos of the tour taken from the car:
