Well I’m back on track and I have some good things to share. This past weekend my niece Martequa came down to visit from NYC to celebrate her 25th birthday. Our original plans were to celebrate in Las Vegas, but since she was involved in a car accident last November, we had to put those plans on the back burner. Therefore, Auntie had to make some new plans:
On Friday, Martequa, Matthew, Tracey and I went to the National Zoo and enjoyed a packed lunch. It was in the 70’s and sunny, so it was a great day for an outing. Afterwards, we picked up my other niece Daijah and headed to the mini golf course. We all played a round, and of course I kicked their butts. Then we headed to Chick-fil-a for dinner, because Tracy had never been there before. We had left the house at 10:30 that morning and didn’t return until 10:30 that night.
On Saturday, Martequa and I met up with my girlfriend Jamila. First we attended a Pampered Chef party in Owens Mills and neither Martequa or Jamila had ever attended one before, they both enjoyed themselves, the company and the tasty foods we got to sample. Jamila was so impressed and saw several items she wanted to purchases, that now she is hosting a party next month. After the party we drove around for a while and then went to Stoney River in Towson for dinner. As always Jamila and I enjoyed a nicely prepared steak and sides, and Martequa tried and liked the blackened grouper. We were all stuffed after dinner and no one wanted dessert, but the restaurant did not disappoint me, they brought Martequa a dessert with a candle. As always another great restaurant choice. Afterwards we headed back to Jamila’s house for a while to chat and chill. Saturday was another busy day, as once again we were out of the house around 11:00 a.m. and didn’t return until 11:00 p.m.
Sunday, March 21st was Martequa’s Birthday. Martequa, Matthew, Daijah and I went to the library and spent several hours at the park. To celebrate her birthday I cooked dinner (lamb, fresh spinach, noodles, portabella mushrooms and tomatoes and Mozzarella) and we were joined by Mommy Dearest, Aunt Pat, Cousin Kelli and my girlfriend Tracey. To top off the evening we sang Happy Birthday and had ice cream cake. Although a relatively subdued birthday, I know Martequa had a great time, in fact she is now considering moving down to the DMV. I’m keeping it in my prayers she will come.
One-by-one, I am determined to get my entire family down here.
