I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and has exciting plans for the New Year.
I had a wonderful holiday and spent a week in Atlanta, Georgia. This was the first time bringing in the New Year in Atlanta, and before going to church I was able to spend some of New Years Eve with my ATL Scraps of Color sistahs (Tiare, Moanica, Melissa, Gwendolyn and Erika) and their spouses, at Tiare and Robert’s house. I brought in the New Year with the love of my life at New Shield of Faith Church. The New Year started wonderfully and I’m looking forward to all it has to offer, because I am truly blessed and highly favored, and know God has great plans for me.
Each year on Scraps of color, we are tasked with picking a word for the New Year. This year my word is going to be PATIENCE.
pa•tience–noun
1. the quality of being patient, as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like.
2. an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay: to have patience with a slow learner.
3. quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence: to work with patience.
As a woman who is not married and doesn’t have any children, I have grown up with the need for instant gratification, and if I want it I get it. I didn’t believe in waiting and saving, I just put it on the credit card and keep it moving. I believe “it’s all about me”. Although I don’t have many regrets about my purchases and decisions, I do realize I need to start planning and preparing for my future and learning to be patience. I also need to learn how to be more patience of the people around me, both with my family and friends, and strangers. I am a continued work in progress and I know finding patience is going to be a task for me, but it is one I really need to work on. I’ll keep you updated on my progress…
