I have
been scrapbooking with some of these sistahs for years, and some I have only
known from the internet, but all of these women are phenomenal.
This SOC
retreat consisted of 31 women of color and was FABULOUS! We had sistahs come to Atlanta from Philadelphia,
Maryland, Chicago, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, New York, etc.
The fun
began on Friday at noon, when I met up with my NYC and ME Sistahs Joy, Aysha
and Brenda. We had brunch at The Flying
Biscuit, did some scrapbook shopping at JoAnne (I am always enabling my
sistahs), and headed to the Embassy Suites to join the rest of our
sistahs. By 6:00 p.m. all of sistahs had
arrived and the retreat was in full swing.
It was so
good to see Cheryl, it has been way to long and I have missed her.
I met
Naudja in Chicago at CHA in 2010 and the friendship picked up right where we
had left it.
It was
great to finally meet in person and give a hug to my Chicago sistah Darvi; she is
one of the original SOC message board sistahs.
I met Diane
who came down from NYC. It was so good
to meet another sistah from back home.
I met a
host of other ladies who I look forward to building friendships with and I hope
to see again next year.
